What is the CSRD Directive?

In June 2022, the European Union (EU) approved the final form of the Corporate Sustainability Reporting Directive (CSRD), which sets new rules for companies operating in the EU to disclose information on sustainability / ESG. In addition to standardised ESG data, companies will also be required to disclose information about their ESG risks, strategies, policies and objectives.

Until now, only 11,600 large publicly traded enterprises with over 500 employees had a reporting obligation, however, from 1 January 2025, the number of companies that will have to publish information will expand to 49,000.
