We are very proud to announce that Flagship Impact has officially become part of the B Corporation movement that uses business as a force for good.
You might be wondering what does it mean to be a certified B Corporation and why it's such a big deal. In this blog post, we're going to break it down for you and explain why the B Corp certification is great for us and for the sustainability movement as a whole.
What exactly is a certified B Corporation?
B Corp is a company that has undergone a thorough certification process by the B Lab, a global nonprofit organisation. This certification says we meet high standards when it comes to environmental and social performance, transparency, and accountability.
To earn our B Corp certification, we had to complete the B Impact Assessment. This assessment takes a holistic look at our business and evaluates many of its aspects from how we're governed and how we treat our employees to our community involvement and our environmental practices. The result is something like a sustainability report card. See here how we scored.
Why our B Corp certification matters
We lead by example
As a sustainability consultancy, we've always been passionate about helping other businesses become more environmentally and socially responsible. Now, by becoming a B Corp ourselves, we're not just talking the talk; we're walking the walk. Our certification proves that we practise what we preach and it will help us keep doing well by doing good.
Using B Corp tools to improve the impacts of our business as well as the impacts of our clients’ businesses will also guide us on our journey towards our Flagship vision: to bring social and environmental responsibility into the definition of business success.
We strive for better
While some would think that earning a certification would give us peace of mind, it is actually quite the opposite! Our B Corp journey doesn't stop with the certification. We're committed to continuous improvement, which means we'll be regularly assessed to ensure we maintain those high standards. This dedication to getting better every day is a core part of who we are, and it's also something we bring to the table when we help other businesses on their sustainability journeys.
We're setting a trend
By becoming a B Corp, we're not just setting a precedent for ourselves, but we're also challenging other businesses to step up.
More than 7,000 B Corps have met high standards of legal accountability and achieved B Corp Certification worldwide, but less than 3,000 in Europe and only 2 in the Czech Republic.
Some of the most pronounced B Corps are, for example, The Body Shop, Patagonia, Ben & Jerry’s or Allbirds. You can use the B Corp Directory to search for more. Part of our ambition is to attract more like-minded businesses to the B Corp movement in the CEE - we will keep you posted on the activities that will help us do that.
